What do you like to be called by me and by the children in the church?
My full name is Emily Corinna Nation. I use my middle name Corinna, and children can call me Pastor Corinna. You may call me Corinna.
Are you married?
Yes. My husband and I are celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary on September 10, 2005. We met in 1970, in Chicago, where both of us attended McCormick Theological Seminary. We were married in 1971.
What does David do? Is he a minister too?
David did not complete seminary, and is very happy with that decision. He works for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a customer service representative. He is a native Texan, and is from Palestine, Texas. He and I lived in Illinois until late 1993, when David was transferred by the railroad to Fort Worth.
Do you have any children?
David and I were blessed to have one child, a daughter, whom we named Deborah. She was born with multiple handicaps, and died on May 10, 1998, at the age of 20 years old. More recently, a member from Oakhurst by the name of Kim adopted David and me as her parents, and we were blessed to be a part of her family here in Texas. Kim passed away on August 11, 2004, and her husband and two children are still very much a part of my family. The children are very much our grandkids, and you may see them with me from time to time.
Tell me about your training?
I have my bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, where I both majored and minored in United States History. From there I went to McCormick Theological Seminary. There I received my Master’s of Divinity. I also got my MRS. Degree, and took my first installed pastorate October 1, 1974. I was ordained so I could accept that call in the Cincinnati Presbytery on September 29, 1974. Since that time, I have gone on to get my Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Parish Revitalization (1982), and have taken and completed interim pastor’s training offered by the Interim Ministry Network (1982-1983). I also have advanced training in Interim Ministry, and was trained ecumenically in the days before Presbyterians started their own training.
